of being alone.” – Stefan Salvatore, p6 of Chapter 1
“What’s the use of being queen of the school if you can’t pull a little rank sometimes?” – Elena Gilbert, p16 of Chapter 2

kindergarten.” – Mr. Tanner, p20 of Chapter 2
“Scoozi? Scoozie me? Me scoozi? Jacuzzi?” – Tyler Lockwood, p33 of Chapter 3

WHAT THE WORLD HAS TO OFFER — Alaric (Matt Davis) finds
an unexpected ally to guide him on his dangerous new path, while Damon
(Ian Somerhalder) and Meredith (guest star Torrey Devitto) try to figure
out what their next move should be. At the school’s 1920s Decade Dance,
Bonnie (Kat Graham) asks Jamie (guest star Robert Ri’chard) to go with
her and, at Caroline’s (Candice Accola) suggestion, Elena (Nina Dobrev)
asks Stefan (Paul Wesley) to be her date. Caroline is pleasantly
surprised when Tyler (Michael Trevino) shows up at the dance determined
to sweep her off her feet, but Klaus (Joseph Morgan) does his best to
come between them. The dance takes a deadly turn when Damon and Stefan
realize they need the help of Matt (Zach Roerig), Jeremy (Steven R.
McQueen) and especially Bonnie to undo a spell that could prove
devastating for everyone. Josh Butler directed the episode written by
Michael Narducci (#320).
Και μετά έρχεται ο τίτλος της αφίσας ''Soon the last drop
will be drawn.".
Damon.
Vampire Diaries’ Joseph Morgan Compels Us To Love Him With Good Deeds
What is it with those Vampire Diaries boys? We all know about Ian Somerhalder’s
tireless efforts to basically save the world with his foundation, but
he’s not the only Mystic Falls resident putting his vampire skills of
persuasion to very good use. For the second year in a row, Joseph Morgan, who plays the not-so-charitable Original vamp Klaus, is asking fans to help him raise money for Positive Women for his birthday on May 16. The organization’s mission is to empower women and eradicate poverty in Swaziland.
“I actually started supporting Positive Women just before I got the role in Vampire Diaries,”
Morgan told us. “I put out a Youtube video encouraging people to
donate and of course no one watched it because no one knew who I was,
and then suddenly I got the role of Klaus and it became the fifth-most
watched video in the NGO because that was the only footage of me
talking!”
Since then, of course, his status has risen considerably. Now that he has more than 300,000 Twitter
followers, Morgan hopes he’ll raise a lot more money this year. And
why Positive Women? For one, he went to college with one of the
founders, Kathryn Llewellyn. For another, he feels like he has a chance to really make a difference immediately.
“The
population of Swaziland is something like a million,” he explained.
“This is something like, give us a year and a bunch of money and we can
solve a lot of these problems.”
And
reason number three will just make you weak in the knees: “The most
important people in my life to me is my mother, and so the idea of any
woman anywhere being treated badly is just unthinkable to me. What some
of these women — not even women, girls go through is unbelievable.
“Ian has more Twitter followers than there are people in Swaziland, so I think we can really do something here,” he concluded.
So, what do you say, TVD fans? Will you succumb to Klaus’ will on this one?

Candice tells HollywoodLife.com that Klaus & Caroline won’t work as a couple because, well, he’s just too evil.
Remember when newbie vamp Caroline (Candice Accola) needed Stefan (Paul Wesley) to show her the ways of the fang? Well, the student officially becomes the teacher on the March 22 episode of The Vampire Diaries, as Caroline takes a new pupil under her wing: Bonnie’s (Kat Graham) mom, Abby (Persia White)! “Caroline has stepped into the role of mother so beautifully this season,” Candice tells HollywoodLife.com.
But don’t worry; Caroline won’t be overwhelmed trying to manage
Mystic Falls’ first-ever witch/vampire hybrid. Such things can’t even
exist!
“Abby officially transitions into a vampire, and you can’t be both,”
Candice explains. “You’ll learn in the episode about how [transitioning]
affects your being as a witch, and the loss of your powers.”
OK, now let’s talk about what you all came here for: the details on Caroline’s hot mess of a love life! “Klaus
is still pursuing Caroline,” Candice assures me. “He’s very relentless.
He’s pursuing her with just as much gusto as he is putting together his
hybrid army.”
But Candice is quick to note that “Klaroline” shippers might be getting a little ahead of themselves.
“Everyone’s so excited about this potential thing between [Klaus and
Caroline], but it’s so funny, because I think viewers are forgetting
that Klaus is a really bad guy,” she says. “This is evil Klaus who
murders people unforgivingly, threatens Elena’s life constantly, and
uses her for blood. He’s not a good guy.”
In fact, as Candice points out so eloquently, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and Caroline’s entire relationship is built on manipulation.
“Caroline is really just using Klaus to relinquish Tyler,” Candice
says. “She’s playing the game a little bit so that maybe he’ll do that
for her out of love. Right now, he’s not really buying it. … If this had
been season-one Caroline, she would have fallen hook, line and sinker
into that British accent. But season-three Caroline has grown up. …
She’s not falling for any of his tricks.” And speaking of Tyler (Michael Trevino),
what’s to become of the sired little hybrid who broke Caroline’s heart —
and bit her neck — just a few weeks ago? Caroline’s got some good news
for all you “Forwood” fans:
“Tyler will be back in Mystic Falls, and Caroline and Tyler will see
each other,” Candice promises. “We’ll see how that plays out, if he was
able to cure himself of his sire bond — or if he wasn’t.”
Man, is anyone in Mystic Falls good with relationships? Where do YOU stand on this all-important issue of Klaus vs.
Tyler? Are you ‘Klaroline’ shippers really willing to overlook all the
terrible things Klaus did, and continues to do? And are you ‘Forwood’
shippers anxiously awaiting Tyler’s eventual de-siring?

A DAY WITHOUT A VAMPIRE — Klaus acts on his intentions to leave town with Elena (Nina Dobrev), but finds resistance from a surprising new enemy. Bonnie (Kat Graham) calls on Abby (guest star Persia White) to help her with a difficult spell. As events spiral out of control, Elena is determined to protect Caroline (Candice Accola), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) enlist Tyler’s (Michael Trevino) help, while Bonnie and Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) take a terrifying risk to make sure her spell is effective. Damon and Stefan have a surprisingly candid conversation about the future. Chris Grismer directed the episode with story by Charlie Charbonneau & Daphne Miles and teleplay by Caroline Dries (#321).

The Vampire Diaries Extended Teaser: The Return of Rose!
Following events from "The Murder of One," it's all become clear on The Vampire Diaries: everything comes down to Rose.
Who turned this ancient blood sucker? The answer to that question
will go a long way toward deciding what Damon, Stefan and company can do
about The Originals - and who better to ask than Rose herself?!?
Yes, we know: she's dead. But Jeremy can go all Sixth Sense on dead people, hence why Damon and Elena head to Colorado on April 19, as teased in these Vampire Diaries episode photos. Will the younger Gilbert sibling be successful?
Sage delivered a pair of shocks to Damon on last week'sepisode of The Vampire Diaries, first showing up in Mystic Falls after a century away, and then turning on him by burning down the town bridge.
But the unexpected tables will turn on this ancient blood sucker tonight, Cassidy Freeman told me over the phone.
"Sage has a big surprise coming," the actress teased of events ahead on "The Murder of One." "And it's definitely life-changing."
Freeman
couldn't divulge many details, of course, but she did confirm Sage will
come face-to-face with Finn this week, along his disapproving siblings,
including a returning Klaus.
What exactly is the problem these Originals have with the redhead?
"Imagine
your brother's high school girlfriend," Freeman explained. "Except it's
not high school. You're a vampire and you live forever. To Klaus and
Rebekah, Sage isn't good enough to be with Finn. They're full of
animosity, there's a lack of respect all around."
Look for the Originals' storyline to "come to a head" by the end of the hour, as well, Freeman previewed.
What role might Sage play in their fate? It's unknown if the character will be back when The Vampire Diaries returns on April 19, but Freeman says she'll try to have the most fun she can in the meantime.
"She's
900 years old. She accepts that this is the way it is. She doesn't
think anything is gonna change any time soon, so her M.O. is to have a
really good time, to live life to the fullest."
And
maybe offer Elena some advice before she departs? I asked Freeman what
Sage might say to this confused teen, stuck between two attractive
vampires.
"She'd tell her to get over it," the actress said. "Just get over it and get in the shower with them!"

PAULWESLEY
Ο Paul Thomas Wasilewski
στο New Brunswick (προάστιο του New Jersey), από τους μετανάστες
Manhattan.

SEASON 3 EPISODE 17 (BREAK ON THROUGH) A century after their first encounter, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Sage
(guest star Cassidy Freeman) meet again at the ceremony to kick-off the
restoration of Wickery Bridge. Damon is surprised to learn the reason
Sage has returned, and pleased when she devises an unusual method to
help him figure out what Rebekah (guest star Claire Holt) is up to. Abby
(guest star Persia White) is having a hard time adjusting to her new
reality, despite Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Caroline's (Candice Accola)
efforts to help. When Damon informs Elena (Nina Dobrev) of Stefan's
(Paul Wesley) latest struggles, she reaches out to Stefan to help her
save a friend in danger, in hopes that it will help bring Stefan even
closer to his humanity. Finally, when Damon discovers a new secret
weapon, he lets Stefan in on the news. Lance Anderson directed the
episode written by Rebecca Sonnenshine
BONNIE MCCULLOUGH
Physical Appearance
Physically, Bonnie is described as being a small, petite girl who is
very innocent, vulnerable and fragile. Bonnie is described to be
extremely pretty, very comely, fair and dainty in appearance. She has a
classic, "avant-garde", and unconventional beauty. Bonnie is very small
and petite, between 4'7" to 4'10" in height. Physique wise, Bonnie has a
slim, petite frame. Her body is described to be somewhat diminutive and
slightly underdeveloped in appearance (according to Damon), possessing a
figure that is somewhere between that of a little girl and a young
woman (Bonnie has an A cup bra size). She has very large, slightly wide
set, childlike hazelish-brown eyes, which are almond shaped, with long,
thick eyelashes. She has a small, cute heart-shaped face with a widow's
peak and she has very soft, delicate, refined facial features. Bonnie
has a small, straight and dainty nose, like that of a cherub angel. She
has a very heartwarming, charming smile (Damon has referred to her smile
as soulful and enchanting) and she has deeply defined dimples in both
of her cheeks; giving her a cherubic, angelic and doll like appearance.
Her complexion is very pale and fair (like that of snow, porcelain and
swans) and her skin is smooth, opaque and translucent. Bonnie's skin is
so fair that her veins and fjords are easily visible (Damon has taken
significant notice of this). Although Bonnie is small in height, she has
an exceptionally long and dainty neck like that of a ballerina in Swans
Lake. Bonnie has long, luxuriously thick, strawberry-red gold hair,
which is described as being softly curly (Bonnie's hair is straight; her
hair is permed curly) and even slightly frizzy at times. Her red gold
hair gives her the look of a 'fairy' or a 'pixie'. There is something
innocent, pure, virginal, fresh, cherubic, angelic and childlike
about her appearance. Bonnie is said to resemble a kitten—cute, small,
innocent and fragile. Her physical appearance is described in The
Return: Nightfall: "Bonnie, with her hair that was called
something strawberry, but that looked simply as if it was on fire.
Bonnie has the translucent skin, with the delicate violet fjords and
estuaries of veins all over her throat and inner arms. Bonnie, who had
lately taken to looking at him sideways with her large childlike eyes,
big and brown, under lashes like stars." Another quote in The Struggle
describes Bonnie's appearance: "Blinking, Elena brought a face into
focus. It was small and heart-shaped, with fair, almost translucent
skin, framed by masses of soft red curls. Wide brown eyes, with
snowflakes caught in the lashes, stared worriedly into hers." Her
appearance is also described in more detail in the short story Damon
& Bonnie: After Hours: "The maiden, who was exceptionally dainty and
pretty and had, to a vampire, the most exquisite feature of all, an
exceptionally long and delicate column of a neck, was looking up at him
soulfully. That was nice, that she was short. Damon didn’t care that
much for tall girls because he wasn’t very tall himself. She also
had—you couldn’t help notice—particularly large eyes in her small
heart-shaped face, giving her the appearance of a kitten. They were
clear brown eyes, with a dark ring at the outer rim of the iris, then a
very light brown ring, as if light were shining through them in the
middle, and then another dark ring around the pupil. Her hair was the
color of a strawberry and curled softly all over her head in a way that
made you think “pixie.” Altogether, she was a lovely little ornament,
with fine blue veins in naturally translucent skin." Damon has described
Bonnie's voice as charming, highly melodious and pleasant and he
compares her voice to that of a nightingale, curlew and a songbird,
hence why Damon has given her the nickname "Little Bird".
Personality
Bonnie is described to be a
sweet, bubbly, cheerful, likeable, charismatic, kind, and charming
individual, but she is not considered to be overly bright or intelligent
at the very beginning of the series. She is not an academic, scholarly
person by any means and she does not take school very seriously at all.
Bonnie starts off highly unsure about her identity and her future; who
she is and what she really stands for. She is basically immature, naive,
ditzy, childish, shallow, boy-obsessed, and insecure during the very
beginning of the series. However, as the series progresses over a period
of time, Bonnie begins to deeply develop, mature, deepen and evolve in
many different ways, and she begins to get a much deeper and clearer
understanding of who she really is. She becomes a more mature, stable,
grounded, and strong-willed person as the series progresses. As well as
developing as an individual, she also begins to develop very powerful,
strong psychic powers and abilities (which are hereditary). She
eventually dabbles and masters the art of witchcraft. Bonnie is a Wiccan
and it has been hinted in the novels that Bonnie is not only a powerful
psychic but that she has witch ancestry (according to Bonnie, her
Scottish grandmother was a witch). Bonnie is stoically loyal, loving,
kind, caring and fiercely protective and she will do absolutely anything
for her friends, her family and the people she loves. She's a generous
individual and she is always trying to lend a helping hand when it is
most needed. Bonnie comes off as rather eccentric and "offbeat" and
because of it, she is often highly misunderstood, even by her own
friends. Bonnie is drawn to and attracted to the unusual and the bizarre
and she appears to be the most unconventional out of everyone else. She
is a highly adventurous, explorative and curious individual. In many
ways, she is rather opposite of her best friend, Elena Gilbert. While
Elena has a tendency to be more vain and selfish, Bonnie is more of a
humble, selfless person. For the vast majority of Bonnie's life, Bonnie
has always seemed to live in the shadows of Elena, her own best friend,
and therefore, she has always felt like she is second best because of
it. Although, Bonnie is not the overly competitive type in the way that
Elena is and therefore, has felt absolutely no desire to try to compete
with Elena in any way, due to the fact that Bonnie has always felt like
she has lived in Elena's shadow. Bonnie is not the intense academic,
scholarly type whatsoever but she has a habit of engaging her brain
before her mouth. However, despite the fact that she is not an academic
individual by nature, she is rather intelligent, sharp, quick and
intellectual. She also possesses a rather off-beat sense of humour and
she is known to provide much comic relief, especially in times of tense
situations. Bonnie is extremely friendly, light-hearted, cheerful and
charming, and therefore, all of her friends adore her because of it.
Although, it has been seen throughout the series, that many of Bonnie's
friends happen to treat Bonnie like she is a child and also, refuse to
see her true and full potential as an individual. Because of this,
Bonnie is highly misunderstood, even amongst her own inner circle of
friends. She is best friends with Elena Gilbert, Meredith Sulez, Matt
Honeycutt and Stefan Salvatore. She has been childhood friends with
Elena, Meredith and Matt since kindergarden and was close friends with
former friend-turned-rival Caroline Forbes since the first grade. Bonnie
gradually becomes very good friends with Stefan after Matt befriends
him. Bonnie is extremely close to Elena (Elena considers Bonnie to be
her very best friend), and she also has a very strong bond/friendship
with Meredith as well (who also considers Bonnie to be her very best
friend). Bonnie used to be friends with Caroline until she turned
against Elena at the very beginning of their Senior year and until
Caroline became ultra competitive, especially with Elena. Bonnie
develops a strong dislike for Tyler Smallwood and although she initially
finds him attractive because of shallow purposes, Bonnie has said that
Tyler possesses an unbearable and intolerable personality. Bonnie
develops a good, solid, platonic friendship with Stefan Salvatore. She
initially finds Stefan attractive, romantic and very polite and she
thinks that Stefan is a good-hearted individual with the best of
intentions. Stefan has described Bonnie as the "fiery little pixie",
giving the nickname to Bonnie with the implication that Bonnie is a
passionate, spunky, and fiery individual. Damon has said that Bonnie can
be stubborn, impractical and naive at times. Bonnie starts off as very
dependent on other people, but as the series progresses, she becomes a
much more independent, confident, and self-assured person and she also
matures and grows up rather fast in the original trilogy, showing much
spiritual growth.
Bonnie has extremely strong, powerful psychic abilities. Her powers
seem to become most vibrant, active, or heightened whenever she is in
Damon's presence. She is able to feel Damon's Power clearly on a
frequent basis and she is also able to sense what he is feeling and
thinking (this is seen in Dark Reunion). Most of the time, Bonnie
seems to act as an unwitting medium for helpful spirits, most notably
the spirit of a witch named Honoria Fell, who several times attempts to
aid the girls (Elena and Meredith) through Bonnie. Bonnie does not
remember anything she says or does while she is in this condition
because she basically goes into a catatonic state or a hypnotic trance.
She also has occasional prophetic flashes, such as when she jokingly
(but coincidentally) reads Elena's palm on the first day of school and
comes up with a genuine prophecy that she would meet a dark, handsome
but not imposingly tall stranger (the same day that Elena met Stefan
Salvatore). Bonnie uses her powers in times of significant purpose.
Because of her powers and abilities, Bonnie is seen to be the most
purposeful, useful and highly resourceful individuals in the entire
series. In Dark Reunion, Bonnie begins to dabble in practicing the art
of witchcraft (due to her witch ancestry), and successfully pulls off a
summoning ritual to call Stefan (and later on, Damon) back to Fell's
Church, then successfully manages to help Stefan communicate with a
ghostly Elena by various means through a dream sequence. At the end of
Dark Reunion, Bonnie is the one who screams about the unfairness of
their tragic fate, which triggers Elena's unexpected return from the
afterlife. It is unknown if Bonnie's powers played any significant role
in making this occur, or if it was just a matter of lucky timing (it was
the night of the summer solstice, when ghosts were said to be prone to
returning to Earth anyway). As the series progressed, she slowly
realizes that she is not as dumb as she believes herself to be (and, as a
result, as she's convinced everyone else she is), and that she's
actually intelligent and desperately needed by all of her friends. Even
though Bonnie is known to be timid, fragile, delicate and vulnerable,
she is significantly stronger and tougher (physically, mentally and
emotionally) then she appears to be on the outside. Despite the fact
that she can be rather naive and trusting at times, Bonnie is also
rather sharp and challenging when she wants to be and she does possess a
highly passionate, emotional nature, possibly more passionate then
Elena. Bonnie is highly idealistic and she is a hopeless romantic.
Although Bonnie's character generally appears to be light-hearted,
Bonnie has an inherently dark streak within her personality; she is
strongly drawn to the dangerous, unusual and unpredictable side of
things. She is deeply fascinated with darkness, especially death and
morbidity. Bonnie frequently talks about as well as romanticizes death,
especially her own, and she constantly talks about her Scottish
grandmother's prophecy that she would be young and beautiful in her
grave. She also consistently talks about how romantically she might die.
In the beginning, she is fickle in chasing after Stefan Salvatore, and
then Matt Honeycutt throughout most of the series. By the end of the
original series, however, Bonnie has become significantly more deep,
mature, stable, and grounded; focusing on the important problems at hand
rather than about the opposite sex. She even surprises herself a few
times with her own insightful contributions to the fight against a
powerful, original vampire named Klaus. Bonnie, who is a highly strong
psychic witch, is overwhelmed by the strength of her powers at times,
and she attempts to repress the true extent of them without very much
success. She is sometimes very afraid of what she can and might do and
is scared of her strong powers using her, instead of the other way
around. As a psychic, Bonnie also has intense dreams, prophetic flashes,
visions and predictions, which has sometimes caused her to pass out and
become unconscious, due to its severe intensity at times.
Damon Salvatore and Bonnie McCulloughBonnie
has consistently been fickle when it comes to boys throughout her life.
She has a tendency to consistently chase after boys for the hell of it
and she doesn't take love or romance seriously. Because of this, she has
been seen to be boy-crazy and unable to settle down with one particular
guy for too long. Bonnie has had various boyfriends and none of them
she has managed to take seriously or stick with. Because of Bonnie's
immaturity regarding love, she seems to be highly fickle, flirtatious,
coy and flighty when it comes to the opposite sex; unsure of what kind
of guy she is really looking for or interested in. Bonnie is very
idealistic, passionate and emotional when it comes to love and she is a
hopeless romantic. In the beginning, she thought Stefan Salvatore was
attractive, and she was very thankful to him when he saved her from an
intense situation with the history teacher, Mr. Tanner. She also begins
to develop some feelings for Matt Honeycutt, although Matt was still
very much in love with Elena. Bonnie's relationship with Matt is highly
platonic in nature. Matt has a brotherly relationship with Bonnie and he
is quite protective of her (sometimes overly protective), especially
when it comes to Damon. Bonnie has a deep, intense and complex
connection and relationship with Damon Salvatore. There is an
indescribable, electrifying, and magnetic bond/connection between Damon
and Bonnie. Bonnie is described to be Damon's weak spot and Damon has a
lot of indescribable inner tenderness for her. Their connection and
relationship is known to be one of the most intriguing, unusual and
interesting dynamics of the entire series (according to many readers),
and their connection seems to be an intriguing combination of platonic,
romantic, and sexual in nature; crossing a fine line between genuinely
innocent or pure and intensely, dangerously passionate and erotic.
Despite the fact that Damon and Bonnie have had many moments of deep
tenderness and affection (Damon has kissed her many times throughout the
course of the series), Damon and Bonnie have had a chaotic, tumultuous
relationship sparingly throughout the series. Bonnie was the very first
person whom Damon met immediately after arriving in Fells Church. She
has frequently talked about how gorgeous and inhumanely beautiful Damon
is (beyond his physical appearance). She has even admitted to herself
that he is almost more gorgeous than Damon's younger brother, Stefan.
She seems to be strongly, magnetically drawn to Damon for indescribable
reasons but part of the reason is because he is mysterious and edgy with
a bad boy image. She is also deeply, strongly fascinated by his dark,
compelling and powerful aura, which often causes her psychic powers to
react, heighten and intensify immensely.
Bonnie deeply, strongly as well as unconditionally cares about Damon
despite what anyone else thinks or says about him (including her own
friends Elena, Meredith and Matt), and Damon has saved her life when she
has been in trouble on many occasions throughout the course of the
series, including unexpectedly before the original series began (After
Hours). She frequently believes in Damon; believing that Damon is a
good, kind-hearted, compassionate, affectionate and caring individual,
despite him repeatedly trying to conceal it through committing incessant
immoral acts. Bonnie strongly feels that underneath the cold, uncaring
exterior that Damon puts up as a wall for self-preservation, that he is a
kind, gentle, tender individual deep down within, who is simply highly
misunderstood. She strongly believes in Damon regardless of the
circumstances, even if Damon has treated her badly, due to his ego or
selfish gratification. Bonnie was the very first individual to see
Damon's deeply buried, inner humanity. Damon naturally and effortlessly
brings out a significantly much stronger, deeper, passionate and mature
individual/side out of Bonnie. Damon has managed to have a strong, yet
silent impact on Bonnie's evolvement and personal development throughout
the series. Because of Damon, Bonnie is able to see the world much
differently then she did at the very beginning of the series (which was a
highly idealistic, shallow view), and therefore, she has become much
more mature, practical and much more aware of the world around her. Out
of everyone in the series, Damon seems to be the one and only individual
who sees Bonnie's true, ultimate and full potential as an individual
and he sees her as a significantly strong, passionate and powerful young
woman at the core of her being (though he still thinks of her as a
woman-child at times), even though she appears to be very fragile and
vulnerable on the outside. Damon and Bonnie have shared many deep,
intense and meaningful moments together in the series, although many of
these "special moments" in which they have shared together have not been
revealed throughout the series and have been rather 'secretive' in
nature (although the reason for this is not known). Damon is fiercely
and strongly protective of Bonnie and he will do absolutely anything at
all costs to protect her from harm and keep her safe. He is also very
nurturing, tender and gentle with her, even though he won't admit his
actions of affection towards her to himself. He seems to always be there
for her whenever she's in trouble, or whenever she calls him for help.
Bonnie seems to be the one person in the series who brings out the true
human side in Damon naturally and effortlessly; thecaring,
affectionate, compassionate, tender side of him —the 'true Damon',
which is deeply hidden within his soul. It is highly apparent that Damon
has a strong, indescribable soft spot and tenderness for Bonnie,
although the exact reason for this is highly unexplained and unknown. In
terms of outer personalities, Bonnie is the complete and total opposite
of Damon in many ways. Bonnie has a lighter personality; Damon has a
darker personality. Bonnie is more selfless and humble; Damon is more
selfish, vain and proud. Bonnie is more weak, fragile and vulnerable;
Damon is more dominant, powerful and strong. Bonnie is moral; Damon is
immoral. Bonnie is more emotionally weak; Damon is more emotionally
strong. Yet, despite the many differences in their outer personalities,
Damon and Bonnie share a special, deep, strong affinity and bond with
each other.
Bonnie is frequently referred to in the novels, especially in The
Return: Nightfall, as a maiden. Damon often thinks of her as a maiden
because of her innocence, although she is the same age as Elena. In the
novels, Damon often refers to her as a "woman-child". She is somewhat of
a child and she faints constantly, as she lacks any control or
self-restraint over her very strong psychic powers. Bonnie is considered
to be very fragile and she can be easily frightened and overwhelmed,
although she does become a significantly stronger individual as the
series progresses. She is highly expansive and visionary, but she can be
quite damsel-in-distress like. Bonnie has many, various nicknames
throughout the series and most of them are nicknames in which Damon
Salvatore has given her. Most of the given nicknames for Bonnie often
refer to her hair colour. Bonnie is a feminine name of
Scottish/Scots-Irish origin which means "pretty", "beautiful" or
"attractive". The name also means "good". Bonnie has many nicknames
which include 'Bon', 'Bon-Bon', 'The Little One', 'Sweet Bonnie' (coined
by Shinichi), 'Pixie', 'Firebrand', 'Druid Priestess', 'Curlew',
'Songbird', 'The Redhead', 'Redhead', 'Strawberry-Haired Girl', 'Little
Red-haired Girl' and 'Fiery Little Pixie' (coined by Stefan Salvatore).
Aside from all of her usual nicknames, Damon Salvatore individually, has
many nicknames he uses for Bonnie and he normally doesn't call her by
her first name, although the reason for this is unknown. Damon's
nicknames for Bonnie are notably highly affectionate and tender in
nature and they also often refer to her hair-colour. Damon's many
nicknames for Bonnie include Little Redbird (this is Damon's personal
favourite nickname to call Bonnie), Redheaded Bird, Little Redhead,
Little Witch, Redheaded Witch, Red-Haired Maiden, Red Songbird, Little
Red-Haired Songbird, Little Bird, Baby Bird, Little Human, Human,
Sleeping Maiden, Sweet Baby Bird, Sweet Red Bird, His Bird, His Bedraggled Little Bird, His Maiden, His Witch, The Redbird, Fiery Little Fury, Kitten, and Sweet Songbird Bonnie.
MEREDITH SULEZ
Physical Appearance
Meredith is Latino in ethnic background and is described to be tall,
with an olive complexion, dark eyes, heavy black lashes, and loose black
hair. According to Elena, she never wears make-up because she doesn't
need any. She is described as very elegant and beautiful. One of
Meredith's "distinguishing features" is that she has a "very elegant
eyebrow". Meredith is described as being tall (5'8" to 5'9"); she is
significantly taller than Bonnie (who is described as very petite and
small in stature) and taller than Elena (who is described to be of
average height). Meredith has a Latin or Mediterranean appearance—she
has a beautiful olive skin tone and complexion, which is described to be
smooth and flawless like honey. Meredith has deep set, dark eyes (Elena
thought that they were brown until she realized that they were actually
grey in color), with heavy, thick, long black lashes. Meredith's hair
is described to be medium long in length, jet black in coloring and her
hair is described as being 'loose' (implying that she wears her hair
down for the vast majority of the time). According to Elena, she almost never wears makeup because she doesn't need any; she has a natural andraw
beauty. Meredith is tall and willowy but possesses an elegant air
around her. She may not be the blonde haired, blue eyed girl with an
angelic appearance (Elena), the auburn haired, green eyed Queen of
Robert E. Lee High School (Caroline) or the pretty, petite resident
redheaded Druid descendant (Bonnie), but Meredith is one of the most
sought after girls in all of Fell's Church. She possesses a more
natural, subtle look about her, unlike the more exotic and "trendy"
Caroline Forbes, with her auburn-colored hair and her tan from a bottle.
She is described as very elegant, graceful and beautiful. One of
Meredith's distinguishing physical features is that she has an "elegant
eyebrow". Stefan has described her as "the tall, dark-haired beauty." A
quote in TheAwakening describes her physical appearance: "She
had missed Meredith more than anyone, Elena thought, looking at the tall
girl. Meredith never wore any make-up; but then, with perfect olive
skin and heavy black lashes, she didn't need any. Right now, she had one
elegant eye raised as she studied Elena."
Personality
Calm
and collected: Meredith seems to be one of the most sensible and
grounded characters in the books, amongst Elena's friends and often
comes across as "the voice of reason". She has a very wry personality,
often making keen observations or (somewhat humorous) comments in a dry
tone. She is normally very cool and unflappable, calm under pressure,
and extremely competent. She does things with minimal fuss, displaying
grace, skill, and dignity. She is extremely cynical when it comes to
vampires and the reason is suspected amongst fans to be because of the
attack by Klaus on both her and her grandfather. One could say that
Meredith is the most quiet one within the trio of girls. Meredith is a
Gemini and her birthday is 6 June, however, she has said that she always
celebrates her birthday a week earlier on 30 May. Meredith is the
silent observer of the group and she is highly analytical and
intelligent. She is the one who sits back and listens to what is going
on and remains cool and calm in any situation. She even remained calm
and composed when she spoke at Elena's funeral. Meredith is also known
for being rather dry and witty in her conversations with others. She is
sarcastic when she has to be in situations where the mood calls for it.
Meredith is very loyal to her friends (especially towards Elena and
Bonnie) and family while still being independent. She might not be the
most interesting character like those with flaws from a B movie, but she
is important to the story. She is the normal, average day girl of
today. She doesn't try to be someone else she remains true to herself in
all ways. She is who a lot of young girls and women strive to be, even
if they might try and deny that. She has a very wry personality, often
making keen observations or (somewhat humorous) comments in a dry tone.
She is normally very cool and unflappable, calm under pressure, and
competent. She does things with minimal fuss, displaying grace, skill,
and dignity. She is extremely cynical when it comes to vampires and the
reason is suspected amongst fans to be because of the attack by Klaus
on both her and her grandfather. She is intrigued by Stefan Salvatore
at first and finds him rather interesting. She believes there is more to
him then meets the eye during the time when she helps Elena to get him.
When she first sees Stefan Salvatore alongside Elena (who has an
immediate, intense and indecribable attraction to him), Bonnie and
Caroline, she, like all of the other girls within the group and within
the entire school, is attracted to Stefan and nicknames him the 'Masked
Man'.
Meredith later on falls in love with Alaric Saltzman,
the young, good-looking, new high school History teacher, who is also a
vampire hunter, and she has a long distance relationship with him as he
studies in Russia. After Mr. Tanner was killed, Alaric Saltzman came to
Fell's Church to teach their European history class. We don't see much
interaction with Alaric and Meredith in school, but at Alaric's party
when Elena is in Alaric's attic with Damon, Stefan and Bonnie, we start
to see more of Alaric and Meredith. It started with Meredith seeing
through Alaric's cover as a history teacher and seeing him for who he
was, a psychologist who specialized in psychic powers. She brought him
into the attic to help Elena save the town from the Other Power. It is
then after the party that they go to the high school to save everyone at
the Winter Dance from the Other Power. They are in the history
classroom, which is now Alaric's classroom and are planning and
patrolling the school throughout the night. Alaric is sitting at his
desk and Meredith is sitting on the desk beside him and there is a sense
that there is something going on between them. Prior to meeting Alaric,
Meredith had two other previous love interests or "boyfriends, Ed Goff
and Michael Martin. Ed was Meredith's date to the Homecoming dance. We
didn't really learn much about him as we only knew him at the dance. He
seemed helpful in trying to find Elena, by staying at the dance with
Bonnie's date, Raymond Hernandez, just in case Elena came back.
Meredith's other "love interest", Michael Martin, was only mentioned in
the beginning of The Awakening when Elena wanted to pursue Stefan as her
new conquest. Meredith makes mention of him when Bonnie makes the
comment about how good looking Stefan is and that maybe she would try
and go out with him. Meredith reminds her of Michael Martin when they
are making the promise to leave Stefan to Elena, from which I assume
that Michael Martin was either Elena or Meredith's next conquest in the
past and Bonnie ended up stealing him away.
Matt Honeycutt and Meredith SulezShe is also the only human female in the entire novel series that seems to be completely unfazed by Damon Salvatore
and the only person that Damon admits to being afraid of and finding
extremely terrifying and scary. Meredith is very strong and ready for
action even though her boyfriend Alaric Saltzman is off in an other
country studying and observing vampire attacks. She often does all the
action for Bonnie and often says tells her that she doesn't trust Damon
whatsoever, although Bonnie has always been undeniably drawn to and
attracted to him. In "Dark Reunion", Meredith tells Stefan that Damon is
dangerous, and that he never should have brought his brother back to
Fell's Church. Damon admits to finding Meredith to be "a very scary
person" and seems to be incapable of making rude remarks towards her
when being face-to-face but only when they're facing away from one
another. When he does so, Meredith makes a comment and Damon does not
respond. Except for her grandfather, Meredith's family is rarely
discussed in the books. It is unknown if she has any siblings. Both her
parents and at least one grandmother are alive. Meredith's mother used
to be friends with Caroline's mother a long time before the start of the
series. Meredith's grandfather currently resides in a mental
institution in West Virginia. After the attack, Meredith's grandfather
became a source of deep shame for the family. In Dark Reunion, Bonnie
says that Meredith's parents "considered her grandfather's condition
such a blot that they never allowed him to be mentioned to outsiders."
Over all, Meredith is always there with a helping hand for anyone who
needs help. Meredith has a close relationship and friendship with both
Elena and Bonnie, however, Meredith seems to share a much closer, more
protective and tender bond with Bonnie. Meredith tends to be the one who
always gives Elena a dose of reality and brings her back down whenever
Elena becomes overly selfish and dramatic.
ELENA GILBERT:
Physical Appearance
Physically, Elena is described to be extremely beautiful and drop
dead gorgeous. Because Elena is so beautiful, all of the boys in Fells
Church want her and all of the girls in the town want to be like her.
Because of this, Elena does exhibit a bit of selfishness, pride and
vanity. This is displayed in a quote in Shadow Souls: "I ....don't
think it's vain to say that I'm beautiful. If I didn't know I was, I'd
have to have never looked in a mirror or heard a compliment. It's not
something I should be proud of—it's just something that was passed down
from Mom and Dad." There are repeated references throughout the series that state that she looks like an angel
or angelic in appearance (the references to her looking like an angel
were first used by Stefan Salvatore). Physically, Elena is described as
having an intriguing eye color which is the same color as a Lapis Lazuli
stone (a deep, dark blue). Her eyes also have flecks of gold in them;
this is meant to be a parallel to the Lapis Lazuli Daylight Rings in
which vampires (such as the Salvatore Brothers and Katherine) must wear
in order to walk around during the day, as well as stay alive in the
sunlight so that they don't burn. In some scenes, her eyes are mentioned
to have some shades of violet in them as well, as referenced in The
Awakening, when she wears her violet colored homecoming dance dress,
which helps to bring out the violet in her eyes. Elena has thick,
straight and very long hair (reaching above her waist). Elena's hair is
quite long in length but her hair is not nearly as long as Katherine's
(who's hair was extra long; trailing behind her like that of a train on a
dress and pooling on the floor). Elena's hair is a soft pale gold in
coloring and her hair texture is described as silky and smooth. Her hair
is said to be a few shades lighter than Katherine's. Elena's eyebrows
and her long eyelashes are a darker blond compared to that of her head
hair. Her skin tone is described as being very white, pale and fair
(said to be similar to that of a magnolia flower). Elena's skin is very
opaque, which means that her blue veins and fjords are easily visible
all over her body. Her complexion is described to be smooth, flawless,
perfect, and translucent. Stefan has stated that Elena's skin reminds
him of swans, alabaster or porcelain. Because of her fair skin and
complexion, Elena does not tan easily and can get easily sunburned.
Because of Elena's fair hair and skin, this was probably part of the
reason why Elena has the nicknames Snow Queen, Ice Queen and Ice Princess.
Elena is described to have a gorgeous body and her physique is
described as being slim and slender. She is of average height for a
teenage girl, between 5'3" and 5'6" and Stefan has said that Elena is
taller then Katherine (who was described as petite) by "a good hand
span". Elena is quite a bit taller than Bonnie (who is very petite in
stature), but she is shorter than Meredith (who is described to be quite
tall in height). In Shadow Souls, Elena describes her physical
appearance as follows: "What do I look like? I have blonde hair
that falls in sort of waves past my shoulders and blue eyes that some
people have said are like Lapis Lazuli; dark blue with splashes of gold.
Maybe that's why vampires like me" (p. 3, Shadow Souls). Stefan has
described Elena's physical appearance in The Awakening: "Still, the
resemblance was uncanny. That pale golden hair, so fair it almost seemed
to shimmer. That creamy skin, which had always made him think of swans,
or alabaster, flushing faintly pink over the cheekbones. And the
eyes...Katherine's eyes had been a color he had never seen before;
darker than sky blue, as rich as the Lapis Lazuli in her jeweled
headband. This girl had the same eyes" (p. 26, The Awakening). Stefan
has made frequent comparisons between Elena and Katherine, due to the
similarities in their physical appearance but Stefan almost immediately
realizes that beneath the looks, Elena and Katherine are two completely
different individuals. Stefan says that Elena is significantly
emotionally stronger and that Katherine was much more fragile and
vulnerable. It is because of Elena's physical resemblance to his old
flame Katherine, that Stefan makes all attempts to ignore Elena in the
beginning because Elena reminds him of her and brings up old, painful
memories of his life with her in the past. Elena's physical resemblance
to Katherine is also the main reason why Stefan's elder, dangerous
brother Damon, is also strongly attracted to her and wants to possess
her. A good summary of how Elena looks would be to say that she has
jewel blue eyes and long blonde hair with a gorgeous slender body.
Personality
Personality
wise, Elena Gilbert is described as a very beautiful, popular seventeen
year old teenage girl from Fells Church, Virginia. Although Elena is
extremely physically beautiful, she is still known to be the girl next
door. In the very beginning of the series, Elena was in competition to
be the Queen of Robert E. Lee High School with former friend and newly
turned rival, Caroline Forbes. Elena is the girl that every boy wants
and every girl wants to be. She is cool, likeable, approachable and
popular. Elena is extremely active socially and she is on the Senior
Welcoming Committee at her high school. Although Elena may be beautiful
and popular, she is far from perfect and has many flaws and
imperfections within her personality. Elena initially comes off as very
shallow, bossy, selfish, competitive, self absorbed, vain, proud, overly
headstrong and extremely spoiled, especially in the very beginning of
the series. However, although she possesses these flaws within her
personality, she is still a good person, is a generally kind individual,
and someone who loves and cares about her family and friends strongly.
She is outgoing, active, optimistic, determined, loyal, protective and
strong-willed. Elena is a very good leader and therefore, is good at
leading situations. As the series progresses, she is willing to put her
life at risk and do anything in order to help the people she loves and
cares about. Elena has endured much loss, grief, pain and tragedy in her
very young teenage life; mostly due to the loss of her parents in a
tragic, fatal car accident. She has stated repeatedly that she always
used boys and treated the opposite sex as if they were prizes and
trophies; using them as a way to enhance her vanity, self-confidence and
self-esteem. None of the boys that she has ever encountered, met, or
dated (including Matt Honeycutt, her first love since childhood) has
ever had an enormous, unusual, and highly influential impact on her the
way that Stefan Salvatore has. Elena has had many boyfriends in the past
and because of this, she is often perceived to be somewhat promiscuous.
Although she had always treated boys as prizes, she never saw Matt
Honeycutt (her childhood best friend and first love) that way. She
genuinely loves and cares about him, but more like a best friend,
companion, cousin or a brother. Matt and Elena have an easygoing
connection and he has influenced her in a positive way. Elena breaks up
with Matt at the beginning of the school year, feeling that even though
she loves Matt, that there is still something "missing". She still loves
and cares about him like a best friend. Matt still looks out for her
and he is also incredibly supportive of her as well. Elena has been best
friends with Bonnie McCullough and Meredith Sulez since the first
grade. She was also a very close friend with Caroline Forbes since
kindergarten, although the two have become rivals mostly due to the
competitiveness between them when it comes social status and popularity.
Elena has been nicknamed Ice Princess, for she sometimes possesses the
personality trait of being cold towards others (especially towards males
as displayed with Tyler Smallwood in The Awakening), however, she
immediately and dramatically becomes a much warmer, selfless, giving,
kinder, open-minded, compassionate and spiritually awakened individual
after she encounters and meets Stefan. Outside personalities wise, Elena
is the complete opposite of Stefan in many ways. Elena is outgoing,
Stefan is shy or quiet. Elena is popular, Stefan is a loner. Elena is
more headstrong and aggressive, Stefan is more laid back and passive.
Elena is more idealistic and optimistic, Stefan is more cynical and
pessimistic. Elena is more selfish or self absorbed; Stefan is more
humble and selfless. Elena is more cheerful, Stefan is more brooding.
Elena is self confident, Stefan is self hating and self loathing.
Although everyone seems to be convinced of Elena's intelligence, her
academic performance actually seems somewhat uneven. Mr. Tanner says
that Elena is failing history, and no one corrects him. Elena says she
doesn't care if she fails trigonometry. She is enrolled in a General
Business class even though she is a senior. Elena frequently writes in
her own personal journal or diary and records all of her inner thoughts,
dreams, passions and desires. She mostly writes about her life, her
family, her friends and mostly about Stefan. Bonnie comments in Elena's
diary when she first died that Elena was far from perfect and while she
was never an angel, she died a good person. After Elena is dead
(following Katherine's death), Bonnie describes her in her diary: "She
wasn't a saint. She wasn't always sweet and good and honest and
agreeable. But she was strong and loving and loyal to her friends, and
in the end she did the most unselfish thing anybody could do."
Before Elena starts the school year, she states in her diary that she
feels strange and that something big is going to happen but she can't
describe why she feels this way. She also says that she feels like she
is "missing" something and that she doesn't know where she belongs.
Elena's life dramatically changes forever upon first meeting a
mysterious, gorgeous new foreign student from Italy, Stefan Salvatore,
who is a centuries old vampire who renounced his living in the shadows
and darkness and desired to live in the daylight amongst the humans. He
enrolls at Robert E. Lee High School as a high school student and it is
there, where Stefan inevitably and fatefully meets Elena Gilbert, whom
he is immediately, undeniably and extremely intensely drawn to. Stefan
had a highly unusual impact on Elena when they first met. Their first
meeting was so deep, intense, indescribable and electrifying. Before
meeting each other, Stefan and Elena were basically two dead, shattered
and empty souls, who had both suffered similar, mirror experiences in
terms of loss, grief and pain, and both Stefan and Elena have
experienced hardships as well as heartbreak when it comes to love. For
the longest time, Stefan had a hard time accepting love at all costs,
feeling as though he was highly unworthy and unlovable because he was a
monster and a hunter who lived in the shadows. Elena, on the other hand,
had a hard time finding love and figuring out her own soul and her own
heart, what she really wanted. She basically felt lost, unhappy and
lonely despite her extreme popularity and her constant social behaviour.
Stefan was still dealing with the loss and grief of his first and past
love, Katherine Von Swartzschild, and Elena dated many boys and had
various boyfriends in order to cover up her unhappiness and to conceal
her loneliness and inner emptiness.
From the very first day when she met Stefan, Elena is immediately and
undeniably drawn to him and is willing to do anything to be with him at
all costs. She even gets her friends Bonnie, Meredith and even Matt, to
help her with her cause. Her connection to Stefan is so overwhelming
and intense that she can't describe it or understand it herself and she
states this throughout her personal diary on a daily basis. Elena states
in her diary that encountering Stefan was so incredibly profound and
intense, that it has changed her daily life patterns, affecting her
ability to eat, sleep and concentrate on anything else important,
including her extra curricular activities. Elena has repeatedly
described this connection with Stefan as overwhelming, intense, scary,
frightening and terrifying. Upon arriving in Fells Church and meeting
Elena physically, Stefan is able to immediately sense her consciousness,
her presence and her mind, and it is extremely intense and overwhelming
for him that he makes a consistent effort to ignore her and stay away
from her as much as possible. Stefan also does this because he has a
huge fear of harming her in any way because of his intense desire and
longing for her. Stefan also tries to stay away from her, because Elena
coincidently happens to be the near doppelganger or spitting image of
his long lost past love which caused him much significant pain,
Katherine Von Swartzschild. Despite the strong, mutual, intense
connection that both Stefan and Elena share with each other even from
afar, Elena is taken back when Stefan repeatedly makes attempts to avoid
her and she is deeply, indescribably hurt and tortured by this. Elena
has said the pain caused by Stefan avoiding her repeatedly is so
incredibly painful and bad that she can't eat, sleep or concentrate on
anything important. Stefan's challenging ways and his constant escaping
from her only make Elena even more eager to be with him and makes her
more determined for her to stop him from running away from her. With
each passing day, Elena knows deep down that she must be with Stefan,
but she can't explain why. Curiosity completely takes over her and she
does everything she can to find out all about Stefan with the help of
her friends. Her current rival Caroline Forbes, also takes a significant
interest in Stefan as well, causing the rivalry between Caroline and
Elena to heat up intensely. Elena's school reputation is important to
her, so she makes up a fake boyfriend named Jean-Claude, to hide her
deep feelings for Stefan. Caroline becomes intensely jealous of Elena
when Stefan eventually begins to bond with Elena and also reciprocate
Elena's affections. Elena is deeply, madly, intensely, passionately and
unconditionally in love with Stefan Salvatore. She consistently states
throughout the course of the series how she feels incredible magnetic
and electrifying intensity, love and passion between them but strangely
at the same time, she also feels a sense of warmth, comfort, safety,
stability and security when she is with him or in his presence. Elena
has frequently said that she feels "home" when she is with Stefan.
Immediately after meeting Stefan, Elena becomes an irrevocably
enlightened individual. She experiences an intense inner spiritual
awakening, both before andupon meeting him; overwhelming
feelings in which she has never felt before in her lifetime. Elena has
said in so many words in her diary that for the first time in her life,
she feels incredibly alive and happy. In some ways, Stefan had/has a
special influence on her that even Elena can't seem to understand at
times. Elena loves Stefan with a fiery passion and unconditional love.
She is loyal and protective of him and will do absolutely anything and
everything for him, including sacrificing her own life, risking her own
life and dying for him. Elena has stated that if she Stefan dies, she
will die with him. In the beginning of the series, although Elena had
everything she wanted in life and appeared to be generally content with
what she had on the outside (her beauty, her popularity, her status
etc), Elena was deeply, painfully lonely and incredibly sad and empty on
the inside. When she first met Stefan and began to develop a deeper
bond with him, her loneliness and inner emptiness was immediately
evaporated away and she became an alive soul; she became a significantly
happy and content individual. Elena's connection with Stefan is so
intense, profound and powerful, that she has said that she is able to
read Stefan's thoughts (while she was still human, before she was a
vampire and a spirit) and feel Stefan's feelings. These senses between
Stefan and Elena became significantly more intense when Elena becomes a
vampire and especially after Elena came back from the afterlife. Stefan
and Elena often have telepathic communication with each other. Stefan
and Elena are bound together by the "Silver Cord Of Destiny" (also known
as the Silver Cord Of Fate, Cord Of Love, Cord Of Fate, Cord Of
Destiny, the Twin Soul Concept or the Soul Mate Principle), which is a
long, bendable, nonbreakable string connecting destined soulmates and
true lovers from heart to heart (soul to soul). This implies that Stefan
and Elena are destined lovers for all of eternity and many, many
lifetimes beyond (including the afterlife); that they are unbreakable
and inseparable regardless of time, space and distance. This was
revealed in Shadow Souls when Elena had an OBE (out of body experience)
while having an intense lucid dream about Stefan and saw the silver cord
connecting her soul to Stefan's soul, therefore, using their silver
cord connection to be able to visit Stefan while he was in the prison in
the Dark Dimension.
Despite the eternal bond and unconditional love that Stefan and Elena
have for each other, Stefan and Elena have a somewhat chaotic,
tumultuous relationship for there has been much chaos, obstacles and
outside forces that consistently manages to come between them. This
includes the personal inner struggles that both Stefan and Elena have
endured as individuals, unusual events occurring in the town of Fell's
Church and also many outside forces "deliberately" separating Stefan and
Elena from each other beyond their control (i.e. Stefan being trapped
in a prison in the Dark Dimension). Although Elena possesses the flaws
of sometimes being too headstrong and sometimes a little selfish, Stefan
brings out her best inner qualities and Elena has written in her
journal that Stefan makes her an overall much better person and that he
makes her blissfully happy. Like Stefan, Elena can be very stubborn.
Elena has a deep, strong and passionate romantic relationship with
Stefan although, later on in the series, she does realize that she is
strongly drawn to Stefan's elder and dangerous vampire brother Damon
Salvatore. Damon is the complete opposite of Stefan in terms of
morality, temperament and compassion for human life. While Stefan has a
strong hold on his humanity and has a strong regard for human life,
Damon wants to harm, hunt and kill many humans for fun without any guilt
or remorse. Unlike Stefan, Damon views huma being as objects and as
food to sustain a vampires strength and power. Unlike Stefan, who hates
being an immortal and who refuses to kill innocent people just for the
sake of succumbing to drinking human blood for power, Damon strongly
enjoys vampirism and greatly revels in killing innocent human life for
their blood for his own selfish reasons. In regards to Elena, Damon
wants to possess Elena mind, body and soul and he will stop at nothing
to possess her, control her, and take her away from Stefan and make her
his Princess Of Darkness. He'll even kill other innocent human beings,
including his very own brother Stefan (who Elena is deeply, strongly and
passionately in love with), in order to possess her. Because of Damon's
extreme obsession with possessing Elena, he has threatened Stefan's
life on many occasions. There have been times when Elena has almost
given into Damon's influence but she has repeatedly remained stoically
loyal to Stefan and her profound, unbreakable love for him. Damon has
repeatedly tried to coerce and force Elena to join the dark side (the
"winning side", as Damon calls it), live in the shadows of darkness
alongside him for all of eternity by turning her into a vampire, and to
crown her his Princess of Darkness, but Elena consistently
displays her stoic loyalty and fierce devotion to Stefan by consistently
defying Damon's wishes. Elena has repeatedly said that she does not
want to live in the darkness and wants to live in the light amongst her
friends, family and with her beloved Stefan. This, of course, angers
Damon greatly and has caused Damon to become intensely jealous, envious
and hateful of his younger brother. Elena dies twice throughout the
course of the series, changing from a mortal human to a vampire (after
she gets enough blood from both Salvatore brothers, where her killer,
Katherine, thought she only got blood from one boy; the one boy being
Stefan) to a spirit of the afterlife (after an unknown power brings her
back). InThe Return: Nightfall, she comes back as a perfectly
normal human albeit with supernatural angelic, spiritual powers intact,
making her blood extremely irresistible to all vampires and also, to all
supernatural creatures, entities, beings. Elena has an incredibly
strong sexual, romantic relationship (although rather up and down,
tumultuous in the beginning and during the original trilogy) with Stefan
Salvatore, which is the basis of the entire series, although in the
later books, she starts to develop feelings for Damon as well. Elena is a
female or feminine name of Greek origin which means "light" or "the
bright one". Elena has many and various nicknames throughout the course
of the series, and most of them are nicknames coined by Stefan. Elena's
nicknames include Golden Girl (frequently used for Elena throughout the
course of the whole series), Angel (used by Stefan Salvatore only, often
referring to her physical appearance), His Elena (referenced by Stefan Salvatore), His
Angel (used and referenced by Stefan Salvatore), Love (used by Stefan),
Lovely Love (used by Stefan only), Little Lovely Love (used by Stefan
only), Ice Princess, Ice Queen, Snow Queen, Queen Of Shadows (used by
Damon Salvatore), Princess (used by Damon Salvatore) and Princess Of
Darkness (used by Damon).
